ExpatBriefing: Shanghai Grants First 'Entrepreneurship' Visa

By Fiona Moore, for ExpatBriefing.com 30 August, 2018

Shanghai authorities have issued the city state's first "entrepreneurship visa" to a foreign national.

The visa is a preferential policy launched by the local government to give foreigners easier entry access to Shanghai and China to undertake business ventures.

The policy targets overseas students who have just graduated from Chinese universities and are seeking to start up businesses in Shanghai, or foreigners who graduated from top Chinese or overseas universities less than two years ago and have started up businesses in Shanghai.

The application process requires foreigners to present a complete business plan and business certificates issued by economic zones, hi-tech parks, or incubators located in China.

This first entrepreneurship visa was issued by authorities in Shanghai's Changning district.
