ExpatBriefing: Younger UK Passport Holders Can Use Simpler Online Renewal Service

By Hans Esser, for ExpatBriefing.com 19 December, 2017
British passport holders between the ages of 16 and 25 can now use the online passport renewal service, which was previously available only to people aged 26 or older.
The online service takes an average of 10 minutes. According to a recent survey, 63 percent said it is the most convenient way to renew a passport.
Besides being a quicker and more convenient process, the online service also enables citizens to digitally upload photos that have been taken on their phones or tablets, rather than requiring them to be professionally printed or taken through a photobooth machine.
Her Majesty's Passport Office (HMPO) issues around six million passports every year, with 300,000 of those being for people between 16 and 25 years old. The UK's Immigration Minister, Brandon Lewis, said: "We want to ensure we have a modern and easy-to-use service for our millions of passport holders and applicants."
