The last British victim believed to have been killed in Sri Lanka’s tragic Easter Sunday bombings has yet to be formally identified.

Dubai-based Mancunian IT director Lorraine Campbell had been staying at the 5-star Cinnamon Grand Hotel and was seen on CCTV breakfasting with colleague Juno Srivastave close to where one of the bombs was ignited. Her husband Neil Evans has now flown to Columbo to try to find her, but her son Mark told reporters he’s been told his Mom is dead although she hasn’t as yet been formally identified.

One volunteer who’s studied the CCTV footing told local media the recording showed the bomber queuing for breakfast not once but twice before moving to the centre of the restaurant and detonating the bomb. Lorraine’s husband and son have been searching for her for two full days, with her son saying she’d been nervous about the trip as regards the likelihood of catching dengue fever.

The couple married in Liverpool last February after getting together in Dubai, where her husband is a lecturer at the emirate’s Middlesex University. Her son said she’d not thought she’d ever marry again, adding she’d found all she ever wanted in Neil as he was intellectual, smart and successful in his own right. According to her son, Lorraine touched everyone she met with her strength, ability to get things done and getting results. He added she will be much missed by everyone who knew her, both in her Dubai business environment and in her home country.
