If you’re relocating with your family, access to highly recommended international-style education is an important part of your choice of location.

Education for expat children is always a priority for parents on reassignment across Europe, with Spain home to a respectable number of highly-rate international schools. Expat families living along the Costa del Sol will be pleased to hear four of the region’s colleges have been named as the best in the entire country via a special new ranking by the EL Mundo newspaper.

The first to be ranked was Marbella’s Aloha College, already a popular choice for British expat parents for its UK-style education from age three to 18. The school was founded in 1982, and has seen a generation of expat children go on to other educational facilities including international universities. Another Marbella favourite is San Pedro International College, featured in the top ten together with Sotogrande International School with its International Baccalaureate programme covering age three to 18. For expat parents based in Malaga, the Novaschool Sunland international school is also praised for its curriculum and educational facilities.

The survey took in over 1,000 Spanish international schools, judging them on as many as 27 sets of criteria and ranking the results. Basically, the survey identified the best of Spain’s international student education hubs as being the Costa del Sol, but also named five top quality national schools including Madrid’s Estudio, Barcelona’s Montserrat and Agora Sant Cugat, La Coruna’s Manuel Pelteiro and Asturais’s Meres School.
