Brit expats living in UAE are happy Brexit confusion is now ending due to the decisive election result.

British expats living and working across the UAE are now expressing their relief that three full years of political uncertainty over Brexit now seem to be over. Many believe it will now be possible for the UK parliament to prioritise essential issues such as the state of the NHS, the rise in crime and the shortage of affordable housing. Many of those who spoke with local English language media felt the indecision and lack of effective leadership of the Labour Party had caused huge embarrassment within the British expat community.

Several Britons said they’re now delaying their planned relocation back to the UK in order to watch its development from a safe distance due to continuing concerns over the final effect of Brexit. Others are simply annoyed about the length of time Brexit was taking due to political wrangling, and are hoping the surprise election result can get things going again. One Welsh expat said the result was due to weak Labour leadership as regards any concrete plans to get things done.

According to a spokesperson from a private wealth legal firm, the surprise Conservative takeover of the government will spur purchases of London’s luxury property by wealthy UAE citizens, as prices are due to increase in the very near future. Gulf buyers, he said, will be rushing to complete deals as quickly as possible. He added the pound is expected to recover due to Brexit certainty, losing buyers from the Middle East their three years of foreign exchange discounts, thus encouraging quick purchasing decisions.
